Greetings Neo,

Unfortunately your question could mean a lot of things, depending on what you mean and what
version you're talking about.

Assuming you mean the new groups in 2009, just right-click on a group and choose 'Invite
people to group...' Then in the window that appears, click the 'Select from your contact
list link' above the main e-mail entry field. Note that it doesn't really look like a link
at first glance, but it is. You can then go ahead and add your Messenger contacts.

In versions of Messenger prior to 2009, groups are just different headings in the client.
You can just open up the main Messenger contact list window and drag/drop contacts to the
groups you wish. Alternatively, you can right-click on them and use the Copy or Move to
group options. In 2009, this same functionality is called "categories" and operates exactly
the same. You can also modify your categories on the web @ http://contacts.live.com and
signing in with your Messenger Live ID.

I think that Windows Live Messenger (and perhaps the others as well) aren't
designed to be user friendly. I know that there are categories (at the top of
the main window) and groups (below the categories). I'd like to drag from the
list of other contacts and place them into the ready made groups. I.E., place
family members into the Family Group. I am using Windows Live Messenger
Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206). When I right-clicked on a group and then
'Invite people to group' I didn't have an option for 'Select from contact
list.' I don't want to send an email inviting them into a group I just want
to better organize Messenger. Perhaps you might direct me to some sites that
are setup for Messenger Novices.

Thank you.
