XP Pro, SP3, updated to the minute.

One update failed. (KB963707)

Something was said about removing it.

I went to Add/Remove and tried to remove it. I got this popup:

---------

WINDOWS INSTALLER

This patch package could not be opened.Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact
the application vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows
Installer patch package.

---------

1. Why am I supposed to know anything about patch packages?

2. Why is Windows telling me to contact a vendor?

3. Isn't Microsoft the vendor?

4. Is there really any user that can actually benefit from this popup?

5. If so, how?

Thanks

[crosspost to WinXP Basics]

I can assure you that the problem you've posted about here is related to the
problem you posted about in WinXP Basics last week, where you tell us (1)
you "transplanted" [sic] your "system to a new" HDD and (2) you use two (2)
Registry cleaners:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...df7a754e225429

If you think your Registry needs to be "cleaned" or "repaired" and you need
even more convincing, read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw
your own conclusions.

Tip: Stick to tinkering with Hondas and stop tinkering with your computers.

I guess your post is intended to discourage others from answering my
question.

It's kind of interesting knowing a fact that should have been part of your
pre-attack reasoning.

Believe me, you don't know what I'm talking about.

Never assume.

I wonder, is there any NG I can go to where you will not blockade my posts
because I chose someone else's advice over yours? If I accidentally knock a
USB cable loose will it be because I use a registry cleaner? (I'm
developing my own definition of MVP.)

Not to belabor the point but you would "plonk" someone for correcting
your grammar? :-$ You did tell Jim you would ignore your own posts.

Also, I'm not familiar with the meaning of <w>] . Is that supposed to be
an emoticon?

Sorry if this reply makes me more plonk-able. :'(

Plonks are nothing but an attempt to insult someone and do little else,
if even that much. Plonk away because I think you're an egotistic
narcissist anyway. Oh, and another thing plonks are good for is not
seeing what others say about you; something I seriously doubt you are
capable of.
