When I try to open the Windows Update page, I get the message "Windows Update
cannot continue because a required service application is disabled. Windows
Update requires the following services:"

I have followed what it says (enabled, and started the three services) -
which did not work. Then I checked the troubleshooter, which asked that I
use regsvr32 for two files. The first (qmgr.dll) worked just fine. The
second file (qmgrproxy.dll) gave me the error... 'LoadLibrary("qmgproxy.dll")
failed - The specified module could not be found.'

Searching through the newsgroups, the only other thread mentionging this
just said that the BITS service needed to be started (which I of course have
verified to be the case).

When did you first make that typo?

He didn't make the typo, the windows trouble shooter did. The last step in
the
troubleshooter:

Register qmgrproxy.dll
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 qmgrproxy.dll.
Click OK.

should be changed to:

Register qmgrprxy.dll
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll.
Click OK.

Just a typo. There is no letter "o".

Thanks for the feedback! Now I'm wondering what the real intent
of the OP was...
