Ok....I see this high priority update appear with automatic update. So I go
ahead and download and install the "Dell Inc. - Video - Intel (R)
82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family. Now everything is smaller!!

I checked the font size under Display Properties and it says "Normal". I
tried changing to larger icons and that wasn't the answer. Then I changed
the DPI Setting and that wasn't it either. How on earth can I get
everything back to it's original size???

I see two lines under the Display heading in Display Properties. One says
"Plug & Play Monitor" and the other is the "Default Monitor". The "Plug &
Play" is running. I think that is the culprit isn't it?? Can I undo this
update?? Is that wise??

Mike

Change, (lower), your screen resolution. While the hardware update from WU
may work, it's always best to get them from your PC vender, in this case
Dell, or from the manufacturer of the hardware, in this case Intel.

Change your screen resolution to something larger like 1024x768. This
happened to us today to about 200 new Dell OptiPlex computers. Why the heck
did this update install automatically? Microsoft in the past did not
automatically install driver updates. I thought Automatic Windows Updates
were only for critical fixes.

Once again MS is deciding what needs to be installed, without asking us!

What a fun day this has been for techs with Optiplexes! I expect many
more calls tomorrow. The best fix for it that I've found is to
Uninstall the graphics driver, restart the computer, let it install the
driver automatically, restart again. That has worked each time for me.

I'm now trying to stop this particular Automatic Update from installing
on the other computers tonight!!!
