Active sync "files" folder

I get confused when I see all the files and subfolders in the "files"
folder because I know that if I delete the wrong ones some ppc programs
will not work properly.

..ram
..ebo
..xls
..mid (tomtom)
..cfg (tomtom)
..axs (tomtom)
..mps (mappoint)
..pdb (handbase)
..lit
..asx
..reg (WebIS?)
..txt (WebIS?)
..bin (WebIs?)
plus many folders of WebIs

An example of my concern is why would a 1Mb lit file be getting synched?

I understand that activesync's main function is to keep files
synchronised on both desktop and ppc but it is also stated that it can
be used to transfer programs and files. In this latter case I suspect
that files and folders are being left which should have been deleted
automatically?

Is there any document or web advice on working with the files folder?

Beemer
