A Question Firefox Support Wasn't Able to Answer

I have already taken this matter up with Firefox Support; unfortunately, the
only type of support they offer is either posting a question in the official
Forum or in attempting to participate in an online discussion with one of
their volunteer support staff.... none of whom were able to answer this
question. So I thought I would post it here.

Every time I close Firefox, it clears the private data. When I reopen
Firefox and visit particular password-protected sites — such as the Wall
Street Journal — I'm always taken to the password login page. (Thankfully
Firefox has remembered my passwords.)

Going to the Options section of Firefox, I notice that the checkbox
associated with clearing private data every time I close Firefox is NOT
checked.

Why then is Firefox choosing to erase all of my private data every time I
close the program?

Husky,

Firefox 3: I would leave the box checked to clear private data when you
close Firefox, the click on Settings... at the right and choose the spcifice
data that you would want erased. There are 8 choices.

Thanks very much for this suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not prove
successful.

The only thing I had checked (as far as auto-clearing upon exiting Firefox)
was the cache. Yet upon going to the Wall Street Journal's login page after
restarting Firefox, it still required password.

If you have any other suggestions/ideas, please pass them along.

Thanks again!

It's with all password-protected sites.

Thankfully Firefox remembers the passwords, but it's just a pain in the neck
to have to login everytime to every password-protected site (if Firefox has
been exited since the last login).

Hello

This happens with me and some sites with Firefox but not all, I have looked
at the code for the sites that this does happen on as these are my sites and
it looks like it is a coding issue, there is probs nothing that can be done.

I beg to differ: There IS "something which can be done": YOU can post your
problem on Mozilla's forum for Firefox, where the right people will be able
to help.
As it is, Microsoft does NOT support third-party software such as Firefox.
That is Mozilla's job, not Microsoft's.

Michael,

Thanks for your reply. I too am resigning myself to the fact that this is
most probably an inherent problem with Firefox 3, something that the company
will ultimately have to resolve on its own.

Especially since the technical support representative from Mozilla couldn't
figure out a way to clear this problem up.

Hello Donald,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this posting. Much appreciated.

In case you didn't notice the original posting, I have posted this problem
-- with extensive details -- on Mozilla's official Firefox forum.
Unfortunately, no one has responded in about 6 weeks since it has been up.

Additionally, I managed to work out an online chat situation with an
official technical support representative at Mozilla -- this was about 3
weeks ago -- and they were unable to solve the problem as well.

The only reason I was posting this problem here was just in case anyone had
any unique ideas for maybe solving the issue.(I'm trying to get help from
anywhere I can get it to solve this problem.)

As I noted to Michael above, I have resigned myself to believe that this is
simply an inherent problem with Firefox 3.

Best.

Why not take a look at Roboform? I've used it for years. I can even
transfer the data files to my laptop - which has XP on it - to keep it
current.
