Question for Rick Rogers

I was referred from "Windows Vista Performance and Maintenance". Thread is
"Vista System Pause". Last message in thread is:

"Ping Rick Rogers Microsoft MVP in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general and
ask him to review the CBS.log file.
Good luck Rick."

CBS.log is 35 MB. How would you like to review it?

How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource
Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista:

A built in interface to problems is available by rightclicking the Command
Prompt icon on start, to click 'run as administrator'. Run the command
'perfmon /rel'

Click a 'red x' to see a report.
Rick will have a much better chance to fix something, with more to go on
than 'it freezes'

Well, there is occassional 1-2 minute pauses in the system where everything
just stops. I can move the mouse around but that is about it. The system
also seems to remember every one of my mouse clicks during that pause. When
things come back to life the mouse clicks are processed. Here is a list of
things that I have tried and nothing has helped.

1. Ecmachine tech support was no help in getting the issue resolved.
2. I have upgraded from 512 Ram to 2 GB Ram (no help)
3. I have installed vista SP1 (no help)
4. I have turned off aero (no help)
5. I have used two different mouses (no help)
6. I have run chkdsk (no help)
7. I have run sfc /scannow (no help)
8. I have switched out my tv tuner card (no help)
9. I have disabled everything in MSConfig (no help)
10. I have turned off all services related to media center (no help)
11. I have checked the memory and it is fine.
12. Uninstall AVG Antivirus (no help)
13. Modify the indexing so that only a small amount of directories and file
types are indexed. (no help)

e-machines are seldom 'upgradable' to better performance. Your system is
acting like it is out of resources. There are a few basic ways to help with
that, but, essentially, you need a more powerful machine to do what you want
to do with it, and see no pause for resource management. The lack of error,
and the retention of input demonstrate that the system is not broken, but
simply overtaxed.

So what are those basic ways? I have upgraded the RAM. Would purchasing a
video card rather than using the onboard video help?
