I am new to Live Messenger, and after a few hours of fruitless trolling
around the 'Help' and various sites and the stupid 'spaces' blogs sites (not
that the blogs are stupid, just that its a ridiculous environment to be
trying to 'find' something in-), I simply cannot find what the little
status icon of a mobile phone, and the description 'Mobile' actually means!!!

Can someone please enlighten me???

Greetings Mark,

If they're online, it means that contact is logged in either via SMS, WAP, or the Messenger
Mobile client on either their cellular phone, Windows Mobile SmartPhone or Windows Mobile
Pocket PC/PDA.

Additionally there may be some other applications or devices which switch on the mobile
"flag" but these are the common reasons.

If they're offline, it just indicates that they have set up their account with MSN Mobile and
by opening a conversation window to them, you can send text messages to their mobile device
(typically a phone).

Right - that explains it a fair bit. So (assuming the mobile client scenario)
this status basically is set automatically when the person signs out, IF they
have set up such an account - right?

If so, would this icon also be shown if the person sets their status to be
'shown' as off-line even when logged in?
