I have a typical office network configured under windows 2003 server.

If the shared folders stored on the server suddenly start getting
disconnected from each terminal, that means that my DNS on each terminal has
been wrongly configured, or there is another thing to consider?

Thanks

How many computers do you have? How many CALs is your server configured
with? Are the CALs still configured? (I've had multiple servers loose
their CAL configuration for some reason and I had to re-add the CALs.)

What happens when you select the "disconnected" folders? Often it's just
a "timeout" that closes the connection and selecting it re-connects.
It's just the server minimizing the number of connections.

There are 13 computers.
When you select the folder, it can not connect because it shows a message of
unavailable.

what are the cals?

Do all shares on the server behave the same way or is it just one that
is exhibiting these problems?

A Client Access License (a.k.a. CAL) is needed to allow a client to
connect to the server.

Typically Windows Server 2003 comes with 5 CALs. So with 13 computers
you would need to purchase two additional 5 packs of CALs to allow all
13 computers be connected at the same time.

What will happen if you don't have enough CALs is that the computer that
has been idle the longest will get dis-connected from the server to free
up a license for computers connecting. (A connection is when you are
trying to access things on the server. Connections can go idle when you
are not actually reading from / writing to the server.)
