Questions About Windows Update for Power Users Group

Hello,

Can someone help me with some questions regarding the reboot behaviour of
Windows Update. Here's the scenario:

We have a bunch of standalone PCs (e.g. no domain) running WinXP SP2. I've
configured them for scheduled updates. All users are logged in as Power
Users group (i.e. not Administrator and not Limited).

Questions:
1. When a reboot is required for an update, what will the user see? Will
they be given the option to "reboot later" or will they just have to reboot
after five minutes like a Limited User?

2. The reboots are scheduled to take place during the night when PCs are
not on. How will it handle this when they're powered on the next day?

Thanks,

Dave

"Dave",

To answer your questions:
1a. Non-admin users are not allowed to dismiss the dialog
with the "No" button.
1b. If the update requires a reboot, then the same 5
minute timeout applies. This value can be altered by an
Administrator on each machine.

2. I assume you mean the downloads are scheduled at 3am.
If the machines are powered down, on bootup they will
begin the download and perform the install and/or reboot.

Let me know if you have any other questions about Windows
Update.

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]
