A number of folk are reporting problems with updates getting caught in a
repetitive loop resulting in them downloading again and again.... it's
always worth reporting these to Microsoft, but to save your sanity till the
fix appears ...here is a quick way to get them out of your start bar
Click on the Yellow Shield Icon in your start bar....
select - Custom Install
UNTICK the box next to the name & number of the update that is causing the
problem
click on Close
a new box appears - called Hide Updates
TICK the box - do not notify me about these updates again
click OK
That's the shield and update out of your start bar... don’t worry, it's
gone but not forgotten !!!
If you start to miss it....you can find it again on the Microsoft Windows
Update webpage....
http://update.microsoft.com
It'll check your PC. ..... and when it's finished
click on Custom....
then let it do it's usual check for updates for your PC...
when it's finished you will find an “Important” box reminding you, that
you have hidden important updates.....
in this box it gives you the option to "restore them now" and if you click
on that link you will see your hidden update available to download again...
if it was not an "important update" worthy of a reminder box...you can still
find it again by checking the left hand column of the same page....for
"Hidden Updates"
so if you want to try the update again ..... just tick the box, and it's
available to be installed again. then click on.... restore and check again
it'll go off and check your pc again.....
click on ....Review and Install updates
click on .... Install Updates
Once the update has successfully installed .... click on Close.
Close the Microsoft Updates webpage.....
and check out your Start bar for that little Yellow Shield.......
Hope they find a fix for these loopy updates soon !!!
