Hi, Alberto.
My guess is that you somehow managed to clear the check box from the first
option in (right-click) Quick views | Select Quick Views. When that Select
window is opened from the Mail page, the top line, "Unread e-mail - Shows
all unread messages in all your e-mail accounts", is automatically checked
and can't be unchecked. But when that Select window is accessed from the
News page, we can uncheck that Unread e-mail box - but can't uncheck All
news.
Personally, I like to have that Unread e-mail box checked in both Mail and
News. Then, when I hear a new-mail "ding" while reading newsgroups, I can
look up and see if there is a new unread message shown. (If not, I know
that my Junk mail filters have put the new message into Junk e-mail so
there's no need for me to interrupt my news reading to look at it; I can
scan Junk e-mail later for false positives.) Then a click on Unread e-mail
lets me read my new mail without losing my place in newsgroups.
