Hey so I have searched on the internet around and no1 can find th
answer so I figured you guys might be able to. Randomly my quicktim
progress bar is always blacked out now. Just one day it went black an
it hasn't changed back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled new an
older versions to see if that was the problem. Nothing seems to b
working. What I mean when I say the progress bar is blacked out is tha
at the bottom of any quicktime streaming video the progress bar tha
usually shows play/pause, volume, and next and back is completel
blacked out but it still works. I just have to guess where everythin
about is. Anyways, any help or suggestions would be great. I a
running Home Premium 64bit and besides that have no other problems an
love it

Sorry, but I am pretty much no help as I have the same problem . What
browser are you using? I get this problem running 32-bit firefox, but
I'm not sure if this problem is on any other browsers. I am using Vista
Ultimate x64.

Sorry for the long delay to post back. I have been really busy and
working on school. Anyways, this happens whenever I stream something
with quicktime only. If I open the quicktime player it works fine, but
when I stream the status bar is just black. It functions properly but it
can't be seen, so I can't see the status of how much is downloaded.
This is really starting to **** me off also, seeing how I have tried
Firefox and IE and some software that uses quicktime and nothing works
properly, the bar is always black. Any help would be awesome. I am
considering just emailing support through Apple to see if they have
heard of this from anyone else.

Got the same problem here, running vista ultimate x64 as well.
Anyone know how to fix it?

Somewhat of a solution:

1. Right click on the browser icon
2. Select properties
3. Go to the compatibility tab
4. Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5. Make sure it says "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" in the drop down
list.
6. Press "OK" at the bottom

This solution will allow you to see the normal quicktime timeline and
volume options, etc. when watching a quicktime video, but from my
experience the moment a quicktime video loads in the browser, your vista
aero scheme will change to vista basic while the browser is open. Once
you close your browser, the scheme will change back to vista aero.

I noticed no one responded to this. I wanted to thank you for a quic

On Windows 7 the same effect can be achieved by using "Windows Vista"
compatibility mode, plus you will not ever get aero scheme changing to
vista basic.
