Is Quicktime Installer Vista compatible and, if so, which version would be
feasible?

Harry.

I installed Apple on Vista. I couldn't get anything useful out of it. Maybe
I'm stupid. I uninstalled it. It didn't seem to do any harm to Vista. I
wrote it off as a bad learning experience.

The reason for me asking was, I have a program which needs Quicktime
installed in order to work and I was looking for the free version, if
compatible.
When you say you installed Apple, does that mean Quicktime?

The Quicktime Player is free. You get it from www.apple.com. It is
compatible with Vista. After the installation is finished, it will ask you
if you want to purchase the Pro version. Say no.

It is apparently your opinion that Quicktime is not a good program. That's
certainly fine for you to say so and you certainly don't need to install
it. However, it is *not* malware. The term "malware" has very specific
meaning, none of which is applicable to Quicktime. You need to be very
clear when you are posting about the malware status of a program in a
newsgroup. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it malware.

Hmmm, it usurps all media associations, and is virtually impossible to
uninstall. In my opinion, that's the definition of malware. You certainly
have the right to define the word in any manner you choose.
