Is there a way to have WLM automatically put my UseNet replies at the
bottom? Also, I see that other UseNet clients tend to do a better job at
differentiating between the reply I'm quoting and text I'm adding.
Sometimes with > or indenting.

WLM has an option to 'Reply on the bottom of Message' and 'Signature on the bottom of a Message'
- WLM button/Options/Mail/Advanced tab

The ability to insert the '>' character for previously quoted text was permanently removed prior to WLM 2011's initial release.

The quoting '>' was removed prior to the initial RTW release of Windows Live Mail 2011
- since then WLM 2011 has had three updates (QFE1,2,3) and WLM 2012 one update (QFE1)

i.e. the '>' is not coming back.

Development efforts are focused on the Windows 8 apps not legacy applications (in Windows Live Essentials or Windows Essentials)
with one exception - the Windows Essentials 2012 programs' QFE1 update included an update for Photo Gallery '12 and Movie Maker '12
which accommodated Direct X 9 support on specific hardware if KB 2741335 was also installed)
