ive never touched a computer in my life till 8 months ago but belive ive
learned a lot but not enough.well being female and interessted in building
pcs, well i just get laughed at that i know nothing.so can i just ask am i
right?a male friends pc was so slow, when he tried to surf the web it took
ages to get pages up,slow on startup and slow on turning off.hes running 128
of ram on a pentium 3 xp home.i sugested putting in at least another 128 of
ram and this would speed up his computer for surfing the web and that ntl
broadband requires 256 of ram to run it.he laughed in my face and said he
would through the pc out as it was broken.am i right he should put more ram
in his pc and this could solve the problem?as his xp home soft were is is
recently installed?any answers?

You're right. 128 is waaaaaaaaaay too little for XP. Put 512 in there
and ask him if it's the same computer.

The more physical RAM installed, the better the performance.
If you are using Windows XP, I would suggest installing a
minimum of 256MB of RAM. Installing 512MB of RAM
would be ideal and your computer will fly like an eagle!

Visit www.pcpitstop.com for suggestions.

Although slowness can be caused by a lack of RAM, which can be cured by more
RAM, slowness can also be caused by viruses or other malware. Running a
malware check might be useful.

Does your friend have a dial-up connection or high-speed access to the web?
Things are very slow on dial-up compared to DSL or cable.
