random restarts??

every once in a while my laptop will randomly turn to a blue screen with gray
scratches on it and then restart. sometimes it will go days without doing it
but sometimes it will do it within a few minutes. i have spyware and
antivirus programs running but they never seem to find anything. is there
something i could do to stop this?

The "blue screen with gray scratches" indicates a video chip failure or
possibly overheating. In any case, this is a hardware issue. Because
this is a laptop, you can't fix this yourself. Contact the laptop
mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement.

most often random restarts can be caused by over heating.

might try to blow the cob webs out of the computer using canned air.

or get a reputable store to do it for you.

worse case is the beginning of hardware failure because of over heating probably.
