Random Sleep Problems

Running Vista Home Premium. My question is: sometimes when my computer goes
into sleep mode and I try to wake it, the hard drive will come back, but the
monitor will not. I have to do a hard reboot to get started again. Also,
while in the middle of working on something, the monitor will flash a message
that it is going into sleep mode and then it shuts down. Again, I have to
reboot. This computer is brand new, supposedly top of the line built for
gaming about six months ago. Approximately three months ago, we reloaded
Vista. All the problems went away and everything was fine, but suddenly last
week, they began again. Is this a Vista problem, a monitor problem, or
something else? Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks for responding. I have all the power options set to "never". But I
don't like leaving the computer running all the time, so when done, I will
manually put it in sleep mode. Sometimes the monitor will wake back up;
sometimes it won't. Also, what is with the random shut down during normal
activity?
