My computer reboots randomly while I am typing emails in Office Outlook or
viewing sights in IE6. This usually happens three or four times a day. Any
ideas from anyone experiencing the same?

I've had the same problem since I installed SP2 in October. I use Windows XP
Home Edition thru a Gateway computer. I don't use Outlook so I don't know if
I would have the same problem; but I believe my problem is tied to IE6. It
doesn't happen every time IE opens and is used for a while, but it only
happens when IE is being used. I don't use IE regularly because of popup
issues (I use SBC Yahoo browser), but selecting certain items open up thru IE
(I'm surprised it hasn't random rebooted while writing this). I do use
fileshare on occasion and is certain to drop out and the system reboots
leaving me to figure if I will ever complete a download. Again this didn't
happen until after SP2 was installed so I don't believe it to be fileshare
software. Jupiter Jones suggested to update all available XP drivers. I
appear to be up-to-date but it continues to happen. I have Spybot, Adaware,
and the Microsoft Malicious Software Tool. None of these resolve it. I do
not want to do an XP system re-install if I can avoid having to put
everything I have on it back in. Can anyone help me fix this. DoneRice is
probably still in the same situation as well.

I have exactly the same issue on my Acer Travelmate laptop, randomly
restarting itself while using IE in XP home. I am also up to date with
drivers and updates, due to me trying to resolve this problem but im stuck
for ideas now hence me being on here for inspiration.

It doesnt leave any log of whats happened, so cant trace the fault, and it
doesnt seem to be connected to anything :s Very bizzare!(and tremendously
annoying)

Ive just unchecked the "auto restart" box in the event of a "system failure"
in the advanced properties of the system icon in control panel and will see
if its any help, but im lost/stuck/annoyed with it now, so if anyone could
shed some light it would be apreciated.

Thanks
