If you are using the clunky web interface (and you must be to have a choice
to rate the answers) you should read up on how to use them properly..

(About 3/4 of the way down is a section entitled, "Why should I rate a
post?" trhat may be of some help to you.)

Otherwise I would just setup a newsreader and use it and thank the person
who answers your question if they help you in the same thread.
