RC1 Download Problem

I've tried to download Vista RC1 twice now using the Download manager
recommended by Microsoft. Each time the manager indicates a successful
download. But when I try to create the installation disk using my ISO burner
the downloaded file cannot be found. I search for it on my hard drive and
Vista Beta 2 cannot find the file either, yet when I try to download the file
again - the download manager states "the file already exists, do I want to
replace it."

Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

When you download a file, you pick the folder to download it to. Go to that
folder and try doubleclicking on the file and it should start your burning
program.

When I downloaded RC1, the download manager created a folder in my default
download location named:

Windows Vista RC1 (v5600-16384) for X86 and X64 (English)

In that folder, I have the two ISO's for x86 and x64.

Try looking for a folder named as above.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I've downloaded the file using the
Akamai Download Manager each time and both downloads said they were
successful. The second time I even downloaded it directly to the desktop and
when the download was complete, it still doesn't list the file.

The only way I have been able to "find" the file is by going back to the
link to download using Akamai again. When the dialog box pops up asking
where I want to download the file it will list the file that has already been
downloaded. I've tried using cut and paste from here to move the file to the
desktop or other folder but when I click on the shortcut it says the file
cannot be found.

I didn't have any problems at all when downloading Beta 2.

I've been experienceing the same exact problems - tried cut and paste as well
- and got the same result you did. I've tried several times throughout the
day. Also tried to download the file using the IE7 d/l manager - took about
3 hrs and all I got was a 717mb invalid file. Tried FlashGet D/L Manager -
with no luck either.

Does anyone have a suggestion??

Got your problem fixed.
Use your own dload manager; and use the link on the right side of the
page-where it says use your own browser/dload manager.
I've used free download manager many times-no problems.
Ya can get it at www.freedownloadmanager.org
Also;for real time help come on over to the Vista chat room at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist.../chatroom.aspx

Are you able to rename the existing file in the Save As dialog box? That
might make it visible. I remember this issue when I tried to grab Beta 2
x64.

Fellas;
Real Quick here.
Do yourself a favor;skip the AKAMI dload manager.
Grab one off the net. I've never had problems; this one owrks great;it's
free also.
www.freedownloadmanager.org

Install it.

Now; go back to the RC1 download page;but don't click on the links on
the left side; look on the right side;you'll see the exact same links under
a heading of;use your own browser/dload manager.
Click on the apprpriate one; BINGO FDM will grab it;make a folder ya can
find;and won't disappear.
If ya need quicker help; chk out the vista chatroom;
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist.../chatroom.aspx

Usually someone in there that can help-in more "real-time"

Had the same problem in Pre RC1. Turning off hidden files and protected
system files in Vista still did not give me access.

Ended up dragging out an old 80 GB HDD and installing XP. I located the iso
in the users temporary internet files in a virtualised folder. Then used Nero
7 to burn image.

My thoughts at the time was it was a problem with UAC so I bugged it to MS.
