I have a dfi lp nf4 ultra d mobo. I have 2 200GB WD sata150 drives in a
raid 0 and 2 300GB WD sata300 drives in a raid 0. I currently have xp
installed on a 40GB partition created on the sata150 array. I created a
40GB partition on the sata300 array. I followed the instructions here to
get the driver to load:
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/vist...asc&highlight=
I was able to load the driver and then see the drives. When I select the
partition to install RC 2 I get the following message:
Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for
installation. Any ideas what is causing that message. I have tried
deleting the partition and creating it and formatting using the RC2
install disc and that doesn't help. I have tried using a partition on both
the sata150 and the sata300 arrays. I have tried using several suggestions
except the one that says all of the partitions have to be created with
vista. I have data and backups on one of the arrays that I am not going to
delete.

I had a similar problem and was initially discouraged. However, when I
rebooted and attempted a second time to install on the newly formatted
partition, the OS successfully installed and has continued to work fine.

I tried the reboot but it still didn't work. I am not sure what to do at
this point.

I hope you have your data and backups also backed up somewhere else while you
attempt this installation. You won't get much sympathy from this group if you
corrupt your array and lose data!

I had a similar problem except I was able to install successfully on my RAID
0 and then couldn't see the RAID1 for my data/backups. I was following all
the tips and tricks until I got frustrated and installed RC2 *without*
loading any drivers. Vista saw both RAIDs and life is good. I have XP/Vista
dual booting from a RAID0 and my other stuff on a RAID1.

To test this, you don't have to do a complete install. Just boot from the
DVD (without loading any drivers) and when you get to the point where you
select where you want to install Vista, you will hopefully see all your
RAIDs. You may stop at that point if you want.

Good luck!

I have tried without loading the drivers. That didn't work. I even tried
putting an sil3114 raid controller card in and connecting only 1 sata
drive to it but that didn't work either.

Do you think it would work this way. Move my twin 200GB drives to my
sil3114 controller. Connect a 120GB sta drive onto the nvidia controller.
Disconnect all of the other drives. Use the vista disk to create 2
partitions on that drive. Reboot and install XP on one partition. Reboot
and install vista on the other. Turn off and connect my other drives back.
