RDP IP address/Username Problem

Hi I am new to Vista and new on here.

I came across the forum by searching for the follwoing kind of
question, hope nobody minds but as ther was no answer attached to the
original question I thought I would repost it.

How do you change the user name? every time I use remote desktop it
supplies
my username as the IP address/my user name which results in no log on.
I am
then given the opportunity to delete the 192.***.*.* so that I am left
with
just the user name. Also, I do not know if this is a Vista quirk, but I
am
finding that I get dropped from my VPN connection frequently despite
that my
internet connection is rock solid. At least if Remote desktop could
re-connect quickly with the right info this wouldn't be so painful.
