Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup, please.

Not that it'll help you at all but...

0x80071B6E The specified session cannot be found.

Hi,

We experience the same on a SBS 2003 sp2 server. Tried all the mentioned
methods.

<cmd_output OS="XPsp3">
E:\>set /a c = 0x1B6E
7022
E:\>net helpmsg %c%

The specified session cannot be found.
</cmd_output>

Try doing a manual install without a network connection.
That should at least change the symptom.

Also, as always, check the install log for clues.
This reported code may not even be the most significant one there.

Good luck

I am having the same problem. As soon as I click on either Custom or Express
this error code is displayed - there is almost no delay. I am running a
virtual XP SP3.
