Having the same problem, different error message though, I was using v4 just by entering the url automatically but now I get redirected as well.

My suggestion is to check and verify you firewall/proxy configuration that
maybe preventing access to the WindowsUpdate V5 site. This error
definition is as follows: Error number: 0x80244017
SUS_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_DENIED Http status 401 - access denied.

V5 handles the auto detection proxy differently then V4. What are you proxy
server settings in I.E Connection LAN setting specified?

In the Local Area Network (LAN) settings do you have Automatically detect
setting checked, if you check this does this resolve the error?

specified in the port box. I have Bypass proxy server for local addresses and
under advanced i have use the same proxy server for all protocols and under
exceptions i have one exception for our local IP addresses. I have gone
through and tried every combonation i can to try and make it work and have
had no luck so far.
