It's always best to have backups. Aside from that, If the new Server will be
in the same active directory forest / domain as before, then the security
assignments will be valid.
A couple of other considerations. How large is your OS partition? 2008
particularly the 64bit full version, will need a larger partition than 2003
did. MS "minimum" is 32GB for 64 bit, but much, much larger is often
recommended. So, you may need or want to expand the array now and recreate
if necessary, and restore.
