Hi, I have just formatted my hard drive and re-installed windows XP Pro, as
some of my system files were corrupt and it wouldn't start up.

I installed SP2 and the next time i booted up my computer, it took roughly
11 minuets to start up windows.

It does the following:

- Detects HDs, disk drives and does memory cheak fine,
- Then the screen goes black for about 2-3 min, whilst the HD is 'slowly'
accessing data in a repetative rythm, daa,daa.......... daa,daa.........
daa,daa.......... (if you get the idea)
-Then a white progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen (HD still
makes same noise)
-The bars progess is very slow and takes about 8-9min to get half way,
-After it reaches about half way it completes the progress bar
instantainiously,
Then the windows logo and a blue progess bar appears as it should do and
from here works fine with loading windows to the desk top.

(The white progress bar used to appear and disapear within milliseconds,
which after, then displayed the windows logo and blue progress bar)

- The compter works fine, programs work and shuts down normally - no
problems.
- I have uninstalled the programs and done system resore points but nither
have fixed the problem.

Did you prepare your system for Service Pack 2 per the suggestions on the
Windows Update website? Is all the hardware in your system compatible with
SP 2? Is your system free of worms, spyware, adware and viruses?
