Good Evening,

i updated the firmware of my Mainboard (Abit AB9) to the newest Version.

After that was finished Windows Vista Business suddenly started to find new
devices like some onboard-sound-deviced (digital,...). That was odd, but i
didn't really cared, since all functioned proberly.

Some hours later, i got one of the tiny yellow pop-ups, mentioning i need to
re-activate my Vista within 3 days.

Ok, i tried and failed.
The message say "The [...] product key is allready in use"
It then gave me 4 options:
- to buy a new WinVista Business key
- to input another key.
- to activate it via phone
- to contact Mircrosoft...

Here some further information that could be of use:
- My school gave my a license key (in short i own a original)
- i activated WinVista right after the installation
- i made a firmware update of my mainboard
- i changed some configurations in the BIOS. (In short, doing a "little" bit
of overclocking, but went really soon back to the old configuration, since i
don't have a good silencer yet.)

I would really appreciate some help here, since 3 days are VERY short and
momentarily isn't the best time to give up on my system....i can't reinstall
it next week.

greetings
Brataq

You must activate the product key over the telephone. Tell the microsoft rep
what happened, and they should reactivate your computer.

One of the new features of Vista is that reactivation can not be done on a
different motherboard over the internet. Even tho this is the same
motherboard, the bios are different and that is a large enough change to make
vista think it is beng pirated.

Hello,

Today I had same problem. I update my BIOS on motherboard ASUS P5W DH deluxe
and when Vista Ultimate 32 starts it say that I must reactivate in 3 days. I
click activate now and then tell me that my key is allready in use or to buy
new one.

Why this happening? I update my bios before on vista and nothing is happen.
It works good. Now I update and I get this. I always update my bios when new
update is avaible from my motherboard manufacture.

Help?

You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
(w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing
Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.

I rearranged the RAM and had to reactivate.
No new hardware, no BIOS change, just the same RAM in different slots.
10 minutes on the phone for absolutely NO Reason!
And MS wonders why people get ****ed off!
