Well, if I had to guess, I'd guess the VPN client. I use McAfee myself with
no problems, although you could try disabling any sort of active protection
temporarily (no script blocking, no autoscan of incoming files, network
connections, etc.), to be sure that it's not the problem (or uninstall it
completely).
