Clive,

Based on your hostnames question in your other thread, I think there's a little bit of confusion on what the definitions and differences are. Active Directory is DNS based. In your other thread, you mentioned suffixing a hostname to the workgroup name. As I mentioned, the resolver service doesn't use the workgroup name as a suffix to resolve it, rather it will be a NetBIOS or DirectSMB resolution.

Active Directory is a whole different ball of wax. Being DNS based, an understanding of DNS and the differences in reasolution, besides knowing how to install a configure AD, is of the utmost importance. If going with AD, you MUST choose a DNS domain name for AD. Workgroup name won't work.
