I have exactly the same issues here. I'm using a FSC LOOX N520 with Active
Sync 4.1 on WXP SP2
Everytime I connect the PDA, my wireless connection is cut off. The only way
to get it going again is rebooting.
I use WPA-PSK (TKIP) encryption for the wifi connection.

I'm getting a "bit" frustrated lately. I keep asking myself how it is
possible to release such software....
Are there any suggestions/solutions for that problem?

Regards,
Oliver

ActiveSync doesn't terminate the wireless connections on my laptop. I think
that it's the laptop OEM or, perhaps, some security software on your laptop,
that is deciding that it should not be connected to both the PDA device and
the wireless network at the same time. I don't believe that AS is
responsible for that decision being made.

What have you tried in an effort reestablish the wireless connection after
the PDA is disconnected?

Thanks for the reply.

It's not that the wifi connection would be deactivated. My Laptop simply
loses the connection with my Access point (Linksys WRT54G) and can't seem to
establish it anymore.
I've tried deactivating/reactivating the wifi card after plugging off the
LOOX - didn't help. I also tried the "repair connection" feature from XP -
didn't help either.
The only security software I'm running is BitDefender 9 Standard. No
firewall, no nothing....
The only way to get the wifi connecion running again is to reboot the
machine - afterwards it's working fine again..... until I plug the LOOX.
I've even tried different firmware versions for my wifi router - didn't help.

Oliver

What are the characteristics of the laptop? Make, model, etc. The wireless
support is built-in or on a CardBus or something card?

The Laptop is a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E8010D Supreme. It has a built in
Intel 2200BG WLAN module (driver version 9.0.3.9).
I don't use the Intel PRO Set software, just the driver.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that and let you know if it worked.
Though I'm not going to switch to WEP permanently because of the lack of
security - there has to be a fix for that....

After switching to WEP the problems were gone. Switched back - same problems
as before.
I've noticed one other thing.... after plugging off the LOOX, the wifi
connection seems to have been re-established after I've waited about 10-15
minutes... strange thing that is.

I can confirm this. I've just tried it again.
Plugged in the LOOX - wifi connection dead - plugged off the LOOX - waited
about 6 minutes - wifi connection back up.

Have you ever found a solution?
I have the same problem. I use a Dell laptop with the same intel wireless
adapter, and same router as you.
I have had the problem since going to WPA as well.
Have you tried the newest intel software? I can't imagine that making a
difference as the driver is the same.
