No patches that I've heard of. I'm not sure it's a 'bug', either. Does MS
claim that it should work? I must have missed that.

Tip... don't sync to the device, but sync directly to a memory card in a
pc card reader... see http://BevHoward.com/itsnotapod.htm for details.

>> that doesnt work with DRM'd music... <<

Thanks for that info... didn't know since I've been totally soured on
any drm content for half a decade following horrific experiences with
ebooks.

In that regard, I am still interested in learning more.

I have noted that when wmp on the pc syncs to a card, it generates two
small hidden files on the card root...

WMPInfo.xml and WMSyncCaps.xml

plus wmp on the device generateds the hidden root folder MSMETADATA
containing XMEMediaLibrary.mlb

I havn't spotted any other files elsewhere on the card, but could be wrong.

I don't know much about these files, but I have been assuming that they
might be related to drm implimentation... i.e. if you successfully sync
at least once to the device, you might find similar files on the device
and be able to associate paid content back to wmp10.

Until then, purchasing mp3 content saves a lot of headaches if the tunes
you desire are available on those legal paid services.

>> When you synch to a card reader does it auto-convert video to PPC
format as well?? <<

man, you are hitting all the high points... would like to know the
answer to that as well... the options are there but greyed out when a
card is the sync target... I would suggest the wmp group but that has
been a wasteland according to my previous attempts to participate there.

Tis the other way round... the unwanted red-headed stepchild has taken
custody of you ;-)

I know that it's frustrating, but just because you have, say, a particular
type of hard disk and your PC supports hard disks doesn't mean that you'll
be able to format and use the full capacity of that disk as a single FAT
partition, either. Should WM10 work with anything on Earth that's a media
device? What's your definition of media device? You see the problem; the
software has to select a method or a set of methods to communicate with a
device and, presumably, any device that supports that method for connection
will work (if it doesn't, there's a bug in the device or in the program).
However, the thing about "standards" is that there's so many to choose from,
so not every device will support every conceivable way of interfacing with
it.

I've still not seen something that actually implies that a given Pocket PC
device supports whatever DRM-compatible protocol for data transfer that WM10
is expecting.
