Hi,
ActiveSync 4.x requires the Com and DCOM services to be running. Also,
there was a problem with users changing the security of one of the
directories on the PC that would prevent the user from installing
ActiveSync.

"If you are using Windows XP and install the patch KB902400 (MS05-51) you
may experience a problem with ActiveSync 4.x logging in to use COM. This is
caused by the %windir%\registration security being changed from the default.
The folder security must be set to allow Administrators and System Full
Control and Everyone Read. See Microsoft KB 909444 article for details. "

See http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/acti...s-services.htm
for a list of required services.
