Hi,

An Activesync backup can be restored only under guest mode. Did you restore
the backup file under guest mode? You can refer ---

I have an HP IPAQ 1910 and am using ActiveSync v3.7.1. I had last performed
a backup on 01/03/05, although I had not installed any new software since
then--I've only had data changes in Outlook. This past weekend I
unfortunately forgot to put my IPAQ in the charger and I drained the battery
essentially causing a hard reset. I plugged the IPAQ into the cradle and
once connected, I went to restore my backup as I have done in the past when
I've inadvertantly let the battery drain. This time though I am getting an
error that states:

Restore: Invalid Storage File Version
The selected backup file was created by an incompatible version of backup.
Please select another storage file.

Has anyone seen this error before or know how to workaround it? I know that
I could just re-install the software apps again and then perform a sync to
get my data up-to-date, but it can be a little time consuming. I have tried
creating new partnerships and using the guest partnership to no avail.

Thanks,
The Merg

Hi,

From http://www.pocketpcmag.com/_archives...sAndTricks.asp

"What you probably did wrong was to set up a "new partnership" after you
reset your Windows CE device. Your old backup file is only good for your old
partnership. Do another full reset of your device. This time, when you put
the device in the sync cradle, say "No" when ActiveSync asks you if you want
to establish a partnership. This sets your device up as a "guest." Now go do
your restore and all will be well."

Yup, had tried that already and I get the same error message. Someone has
got to have seen this error message before. Anyone?
