I would disable the data connection on the device when connected to the
computer. This is assuming that your computer has an internet connection that
your device can use to sync. Open Activesync and click File > Connection
Settings. Uncheck "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC".
See if that resolves your issue.

It's the same feature. Except that they changed the wording in WMDC for
Vista, which I use.
