Install the update. Download CWShredder :

Boot to Safe Mode:

Enable " Show hidden files and folders " :

Scan the system with NAV.
Open CWShredder. Click the Fix button to run it.

Boot to Normal mode and seek updates for AdAware and Spybot. If you
still can not update either, advise you to check the
WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc folder (for XP,2K)
WINDOWS\ directory (for Win98,98SE,ME) for a hosts file. Either open
it and remove any entries that you can discern are blocking "good"
websites or, just delete the file . If you can not delete it, right
click it and choose Properties to see if the box next to Read Only
or Hidden is checked . If either is, uncheck it,then click Apply,
then OK. Delete the file now. You may even have to do this from
within Safe Mode.
