Microsoft only truly support SD with MCE 2005, HD was added later so its
only supported as a add-on.
(Maybe MCE 2006 will correctly support HD tuner without the need of a SD
dongle card.)
note: you only need to have an SD tuner once for 5 minutes to enable HD
tuner support, you can then remove
the SD card.... Side effect, the system will add the HD channel now and then
and need to to remove/add the guide
to reset this.
I personally live with the bug, I cant make myself buy a 70$ dongle card,
and I actually use an ATI AIW to
turn on HDTV support.
But if you dont want to do this, buy the cheapest SD card around , plug and
ignore it. Still, you need to
go into the guide and uncheck all SD channels.
