The " " is an HTML code for a non-breaking space.

Are you seeing that while composing? Or only after sending?

If you are typing directly into WLM, I wouldn't expect WLM to be
generating those. And even if it did, it shouldn't cause any problems
for those reading the messages.

Are you composing in another program (e.g. MS Word) and then pasting
into Windows Live Mail?

About the only way you should see the code is if you copy/paste HTML
source code into a plain text message.

It is while typing the message into WLM. I only see it, and the reader sees it, after the
message has been sent.

I changed the Read option to Read in Plain Text, but that is no fun - takes some of the
formatting out of the
emails that I get?

Any suggestions?

At [Tools >] Options > Send > HTML Settings, try changing the MIME encoding
to Base64. Does the problem still occur?

Well, that looks fine; it was B64 encoded, but it's still plain text. On
the Properties > Advanced tab for this news account, try selecting 'Ignore
News sending format and post using:' > HTML. Remember to switch it off
again when we've got this sorted out. You should also try with some test
mail messages to yourself.
