Type "regsvr32 wups2.dll" into "Run" in the Start menu and hit [Enter]
or click on OK afterwards.

I ran "regsvr32 wups2.dll", but this still did not install my updates. As of
now I have 12 to install. I just finished SP3 for XP, then checked for
updates. I found the 12 as mentioned and downloaded them to my pc; however,
when I install them, the installation fails. Any other suggestions?

Ehm, start IE, go to the Windows Update site. Check the "Update History"
link on the left. Click on the "red cross" showing on the right in the
row of the failing update(s).

You may also want to have a look into the "windowsupdate.log" file residing
in the Windows folder. Posting the *last* 30-40 lines may be helpful.
