If when you enter your BIOS you do not see the correct date it would be
worth changing the CMOS battery, if that is user possible, to see if that
solves your problem.
Failed BIOS batteries are not the problem they were years ago and are
uncommon with today's units.
If the date is correct when you enter the BIOS then the next most likely
problems are power supply and hard drive, the former being more common in
units of Acer like quality. That is not a dig at Acer but a consequence of
the price point those units and competitors sell at.
Sadly Acer level machines are prone to serious heat build-up which can have
unpredictable consequences on a variety of internal components.
Anything that requires parts replacement may not make financial sense if not
covered by warranty.
If the problem is not something simple, like a CMOS battery, hopefully your
hard drive is salvageable.

Uncommon? Those batteries, like all batteries, do not last forever,
and need to be replaced every few years. How long they last can't be
predicted, but the time they last hasn't changed very much since PCs
started using them.
