Uh, yes and no. First you have a sort of odd group of items there. The EM500
and Office 2000 are kind of old, and AS 4.5 is as up to date as you can get
for XP. I would see if I could scare up a copy of AS3.8. I actually think
it would work better for your combo.
Assuming AS4.5 supports the older versions you have, and I can't confirm
that offhand, There should be an Inbox sync option in AS along with
calendar, contacts, etc.
What this does is sync the Inbox in Outlook with the device. If you are
using Outlook to manage PoP3 accounts, you might never have set up an
"Inbox". Might not be an issue once I tell you what this does. The PPC
Inbox syncs with the Outlook Inbox. You can read all your mail on the go,
but if you reply, or compose a new e-mail, it does not send, until you are
connected back to the PC, it syncs to the desktop Outlook and it sends the
mail.
Normally you can send and receive directly via a POP3 account, but I don't
recall EM500s having any wireless connection options, so I would guess you
need to be attached to a PC anyway. Normally though PoP3 accounts do not
sync to Outlook, they are essentially separate inboxes, set by default to
leave a copy on the server, so you can download that mail again on the
desktop.
I think you can set up an Inbox in Outlook and direct your POP3 mail into
it. Then you can take advantage of the AS syncing, and you will need to be
connected via AS to send new or replies. For you that may work OK.
