MS Office 2003 will work on Vista (what I use at work)
So should MS Office XP (haven't tried this on Vista that I can remember)
MS Office 97 (the one I like and use at home) works on Vista too, but a few
things look strange compared to using it on earlier versions of Windows.
Word is part of MS Office, but may also be available separately for less.
If you are a student, MS often has special deals for them (depending on
your country, etc) that you may be able to get in on.
2007 isn't rubbish, just different (and many people can't handle change).
Of course, many will argue otherwise. I've seen this with every version of
Windows and Office, and sometimes the detractors are even correct.
