Ah - your Wireless adapter may be introducing problems, depending on the way
it's set up -

You still haven't said whether you are able to download the updates but not
install them, or whether the problem lies at some other stage in the
WinUpdates process.
We need to know this because it makes a lot of difference as to how to
attack the problem.

I've cross-posted this to the WU group, who can give more specialised
advice - hopefully someone will be able to help

OK - what is the EXACT error message you get when you try to install an
update?

BTW - the FIRST update you should install is 290700 (System Restore patch) -
if that one doesn't work, then your System Restore is DOA

OK - if scripting isn't working, then that gives us a big clue!!!
It may simply be that your settings are locked down too tight - first go to
Internet Options, and set the Internet Security to Default/Medium.

Try again - if that doesn't work, then try a Repair of IE6 while in Safe
Mode - from Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot to Safe Mode
Go to Add/Remove Programs and try a repair of Internet Explorer from there.
Go to the entry for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools'
in Add/Remove Programs
Click on Remove - and click on Repair on the window that pops up
Reboot on request to Normal Mode

If the above entry isn't there, you first need to uninstall all the patches
applied, then do the repair, then reapply the patches
The patches are listed in Add/Remove under the names 'Internet Explorer
Qxxxxxx'
highlight, click Remove - reboot if requested.
Repeat until the MSIE6SP1 entry appears - then repair as above.

HTH

There are two versions of the scripting host - one for NT-based OS's and one
for Win9x - you need the one from here
