open up Internet Explorer, click Tools>Manage Add-Ons>Enable or disable
add-ons.

When the manage add- ons window opens take a look down the list of add on
currently loaded in internet explorer. You should see 'shockwave flash
object' This indicates that flash is installed.

and you just opened another big hole in security in that swiss-cheese
secured system... from now on, any page you visit is able to change things
in your system as long as the page was written with bad intentions, and
there are a lot of then out there...
