Hi;

The error you are getting most likely indicates that the file you are
attempting to install from is incomplete or corrupted. You will need to
download a totally new SP2 file. I realize that is painful on dialup;
perhaps you know a friend with high speed connections that will assist?

OR you may want to order the Free service pack CD from MS:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx

How do I go about re-downloading it? I tried the update site and it just
keeps showing me the error.

Firsl of all you will have to see what version of windows xp you are
using if you use windows XP home edtion with SP 2 then you need not
install again Mostly windows xp home edition comming with sp2 if you
are using windows xp professional then you can install Windows SP2 of
Xp Professional. You can download it directly from microsoft website
this is "www.Microsoft.com"

Grab it from this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Your download should show as 278,927,592 bytes for the file size when
complete.

Hi;

Just to be clear, SP2 is for both the Pro and Home versions. The same
Service Pack .EXE file is used to upgrade both versions of XP.

While some companies may include Service Pack 2 in the CD sent with new
computers, XP Home does not natively come with any service pack
pre-installed. Nor does any other version of XP.
