Hello.
I'm a WIN XP Pro user. I have a ADSL and a router with NAT Firewall
and UPnP port mapped to be open for MSN Messenger app.
I tried almost everything but since I upgraded to 8.5 version (I
think this was the version who started the problems) of Live
Messenger, every time while chatting I start my Built-In Webcam,
Messenger hang.
The Windows Task Manager rise the app to 40/50% of the CPU and
70.000 / 80.000K into Memory Usage.
I can chat normally.
I can make phone call using voice system normally
BUT I can't "show my webcam" or send my video out in any way.
If I use any different MSN client it work perfectly.
I tried some trick described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q317843
to turn off both the SSDP discovery service and Universal Plug and
Play Device Host
It worked one time and after that is stopped.
I also tried this:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=12027
Log on using an account that has administrative privileges.
Click Start, then right-click on My Computer and select Manage.
In the left-hand pane, click the “+” next to Services and
Applications, then click on Services.
In the right-hand pane, right-click on SSDP Discovery Service and
select Properties.
In the pull-down list titled Startup Type, select Disabled.
In the Service Status section of the dialogue, click on Stop.
Click OK to exit the dialogue, then close the Computer Management
window.
It does not work!
Any idea on how to let my MSN Live Messenger work again with video?
Thank You very much.
Hi,
I did all the advices ppl gave me here in the NG, all my contacts have upnp
enabled,
having fast broadband internet, messenger says there is a direct connection
and so on,
and so on.
And still i got frozen screens during video-chat, messages from a slow
network.
Something that should be not possible.
It can be the MS server, the internet provider and other things
i don't know about. Some modems doesn't work well with upnp, even it
says it does.
I gave it up...... spend more than enough time on it!
It won't work better.
