Thanks for the update.

At this point, though, hasn't the client paid a lot in labor that they could
have used towards a name brand machine (with full warranty/tech support)
running an OEM version of 2003 or 2008?

OK. Still, as a consultant, I figure part of my job is to give people stuff
they can realistically use for as long as possible (while not being on the
bleeding edge). I finally upgraded/migrated my last W2k client recently and
it feels great
