The win9* o/s is a different family to the win2k o/s.
Its a bit late now but you should have run the compatibility checker prior
to upgrading.
If yr Laptop can play cd's then it can read them.
Most of yr hardware drivers will need to be updated with win2k drivers, if
avilable, from the Compaq site
You will have to get internet access using some one elses pc, to burn the
appropriate drivers to cd.
You'll have to check with Compaq as to how to use the recovery disk.
NB it maybe that you will lose ALL data on the system when using this.
