The first thing I would try is to run System File Checker. In the start
search type com when command prompt shows up in the upper panel right click
and run as administrator. type in the prompt sfc /scannow
let us know if it helps.

Which versions are you all running (Vista86 or 64, RC1 etc) Did this start
some time after you installed Vista or from the initial install? If the
later, did you try a System Restore to just before the problem? What
exactly happens when you click on control panel in the start menu or from
where to you try to start it?

i just fixed the problem. i searched the forum and i found a "solution". just
remove audio drivers and control panel works and everything along. now i will
try search for some other new audio drivers, cause i need sound.

I have vista ultimate 6.0.5600 build 5600 X86...and I now where is problem
with "control panel restart". in my case > when I instal audio driver to
realtek ac'97 i can't open control panel! Before I instal driver recommend
vista ac'97 6200 and than vista not start >error_blue screen< about when I
not agre to instal that driver and I instal driver ac'97 6208 then vista
starts!!! and in this place is another problem with that "explorer restart"
when i try open it, about when I DISABLE realtec ac'97 in device manager then
everything is ok, control panel WORKS! but without sound ... :|
I think hmmm ... is out of this problem?

vista not works with realtek ac'97 driver 6200 (error_blue screen)...when
instal driver 6208 vista runs but another problem exist, control panel not
work "explorer restart". when I disable realtek ac'97 in Device Manager,
control panel works perfect! but without sound...you now :|
Is any exit from this problem?

Sounds like the premium contentent controls are interfering with actual
basic operation of Vista. Way not ready for prime time.
