First, even though VPC 2007 wasn't "officially supported" by MS it
worked just fine and was used by many people.
Second, the VPC 2007 SP1 hotfix added support for Vista home.

The Virtual PC 2007 support matrix is extended to include the
following SKUs:
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3 (SP3)
Windows Vista Home with Service Pack1 (SP1)
